A Cosmetic Team That Sees the Whole Picture
Our team plans whitening with your full smile in mind. We look at your teeth, lips, and face together so your brighter shade fits your overall look, not just your enamel.
Pro-Level Whitening, Tailored to You
We use Opalescence professional teeth whitening and customize strength and approach to your goals and sensitivity. If we spot teeth that need repair first, fillings, bonding, and same-day crowns can help fix issues first.

What Causes Tooth Stains?
Knowing what’s causing discoloration makes it easier to pick the right treatment and keep your results.
Common causes include:
- Coffee, tea, and red wine
- Tobacco use
- Highly pigmented foods like berries, tomato sauce, and soy sauce
- Certain medications (like some antibiotics)
- Natural aging as the enamel thins
- Excess fluoride during tooth development
- Plaque and tartar buildup from missed cleanings
During your visit, we’ll talk through what’s likely affecting your teeth so you know what you can control going forward.

Why Professional Teeth Whitening Beats Store-Bought
Over-the-counter whitening can work a little, but it has limits. Professional teeth whitening at Zurcher Dental Esthetics offers:
- Stronger whitening gel that can lift deeper stains in fewer sessions
- Custom fit that helps avoid patchy spots and missed areas
- Safer application that protects your gums and enamel
- Support for sensitive teeth with professional desensitizing ingredients
- Better long-term value because you get the result you actually wanted
If whitening alone isn’t enough for certain deep or gray stains, we’ll be honest and talk about other options like veneers or crowns.

Is Teeth Whitening Right for You?
You may be a good candidate for professional teeth whitening if:
- Your teeth and gums are generally healthy
- You have yellow or brown stains from food, drinks, or tobacco
- You want to brighten your smile before a wedding, photoshoot, job change, or just for yourself
Whitening may not be ideal if you have:
- Many visible crowns, veneers, or fillings in the front teeth
- Serious enamel wear, cracks, or untreated decay
- Deep internal stains that don’t respond well to bleaching
In those cases, we’ll talk about a bigger cosmetic plan, so you still get the confident smile you’re after.

How Our Teeth Whitening Works
Smile and Shade Evaluation
We start with a short exam to be sure your teeth and gums are healthy enough for whitening.
Then we:
- Record your current shade with photos
- Talk about how “bright” you’d like to go
- Review your coffee/tea/red wine habits and sensitivity history
This helps us pick the right strength and plan for you.
Custom Whitening Plan
Based on your goals, we may recommend:
- In-office Opalescence whitening for fast, dramatic results
- Custom take-home trays for gradual whitening at home
- A combo approach (in-office first, then trays to maintain)
We explain how many sessions you might need, what to expect after each, and how to make your results last.
In-Office Whitening Visit (If You Choose It)
During your in-office whitening appointment, we:
- Protect your gums and soft tissues
- Apply professional-strength whitening gel with even coverage
- Monitor you throughout and adjust as needed
You can relax with Netflix, a blanket, and warm scented towels while the gel works. Most visits take about 60–90 minutes, and you see results right away.
Results and Maintenance
After treatment, we show you:
- Your “before” and “after” shades
- Where you landed compared to your goals
We send you home with simple tips and, when appropriate, professional take-home gel to keep your smile bright.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between in-office and take-home whitening?
In-office whitening gives fast, dramatic results in one visit. Take-home trays offer more gradual brightening over several days or weeks.
Many patients choose both: an in-office boost first, then take-home gel to maintain their results. We’ll help you decide what fits your timeline and comfort level.
Can I whiten my teeth if I have crowns or veneers?
Whitening gel only works on natural enamel—it does not lighten crowns, veneers, or tooth-colored fillings. If you have visible restorations, we might whiten your natural teeth first, then update older crowns or fillings to match your new shade for a more uniform result.
Will teeth whitening damage my enamel?
Professional teeth whitening done under supervision is safe for healthy enamel. Our Opalescence system is designed to brighten without weakening tooth structure, and we adjust strength based on your needs. We also check your teeth and gums first to make sure whitening is appropriate.
How white can my teeth get?
Most people see an improvement of four to eight shades, but it varies. External stains from coffee, tea, and tobacco tend to respond very well. Medication-related or internal stains may improve but not always reach “paper white.” We’ll set realistic expectations based on your starting shade.
How long does an in-office teeth whitening appointment take?
Most in-office whitening visits take about 60–90 minutes from start to finish. That includes preparation, active whitening time, and your final shade check and instructions before you leave.
Will my teeth feel sensitive afterward?
Some patients feel short-term sensitivity during or after whitening, but we plan ahead for that. Our products include ingredients to reduce sensitivity, and we can adjust the formula or timing if you’ve had issues in the past. Any sensitivity typically fades within a day or two.
How long do professional teeth whitening results last?
For most patients, results last 1–3 years, depending on diet, habits, and home care.
If you limit dark drinks, avoid tobacco, and keep up with cleanings and touch-up whitening, your bright smile can stay fresh much longer.
