What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are small titanium posts that replace the roots of missing teeth. Once they bond with your jawbone, we attach a custom crown, bridge, or denture on top so your smile looks complete again.
Compared to removable dentures or traditional bridges, implants:
- Stay fixed in place when you chew and talk
- Help protect your jawbone from shrinking
- Can look and feel very close to natural teeth
At our studio, every implant case is planned with CBCT 3D imaging, digital impressions, and AI-supported software so placement is precise, and the final result blends with your face and smile.

Am I a Good Candidate for Implants?
You may be a strong candidate if you:
- Have one or more missing teeth
- Want a stable, long-term solution instead of a removable denture
- Have enough bone to support an implant or are open to bone grafting
- Are in generally good health and can heal after routine dental surgery
- Are willing to brush, floss, and keep regular checkups
If something in your health history could affect treatment, we talk about it openly and work with your medical team when needed. The goal is safe, predictable care—not one-size-fits-all dentistry.

Your Implant Treatment Options
Single Tooth Implants
If you are missing one tooth, a single implant can replace it without touching neighboring teeth. We place a titanium post in the bone and later restore it with a custom crown that matches the shape and color of your smile.
Multiple Tooth Implants
If you are missing several teeth, we can use two or more implants to support a bridge, partial, or denture restoration. This keeps your bite consistent, supports your jawbone, and avoids placing stress on your remaining natural teeth.
What to Expect During Your Implant Journey
Consultation & Digital Planning
Your visit starts with a conversation about your goals and concerns. We take CBCT scans, photos, and digital impressions so we can study your bone, gums, and bite from every angle.
Dr. Zurcher then walks you through:
- What he sees in the images
- Which options make sense for your mouth
- Timing, steps, and estimated costs
You leave with a clear picture of what is possible, not a rushed decision.
Implant Placement
On the day of placement, we keep you comfortable with local anesthesia and, if needed, laughing gas or oral sedation. Using your digital plan as a guide, Dr. Zurcher places the implant post in your jawbone with a gentle, precise technique.
If you need bone support, some grafting can often be done at the same time. You go home with simple aftercare instructions and direct access to our team if questions come up.
Healing & Integration
Over the next few months, the implant and bone fuse together in a process called osseointegration. This is what makes implants so stable and long-lasting.
During this time, we may provide a temporary option so you can smile and chew more comfortably while you heal. We check in periodically to monitor healing and make sure everything stays on track.
Final Restoration
Once the implant is solid, we design your final crown, bridge, or implant denture. We take digital scans (not goopy impressions) and often use CEREC to craft your restoration in-house.
Dr. Zurcher personally custom-stains and shapes the implant crown so it blends with your nearby teeth. We adjust your bite until everything feels natural, then bond or attach the restoration securely in place.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do implants compare to dentures or bridges?
Unlike removable dentures, implants are fixed in place and do not slip or rely on adhesive. Compared with bridges, implants do not require us to grind down healthy neighboring teeth for support. They also help protect your jawbone, which dentures and bridges alone cannot do.
Am I too old for dental implants?
Age by itself is rarely a problem. As long as you are in reasonably good health and your bone can support an implant—or can be improved with grafting—you may still be a candidate. We have many patients who choose implants later in life because they want a stable, confident smile for the years ahead.
How do I take care of dental implants?
You care for implants almost the same way you care for natural teeth. Brush twice a day, floss daily (around the implant and nearby teeth), and visit us for regular cleanings and exams so we can keep an eye on the bone and gums around your implant. If you grind your teeth, we may recommend a night guard to protect your investment.
What if I don’t have enough bone for an implant?
Not having enough bone does not always mean implants are off the table. Our CBCT scan shows exactly how much bone you have and where. In many cases, we can strengthen the area with bone grafting or adjust the plan to work with the anatomy you have.
How long do dental implants last?
With good care, implants are designed to be a long-term, often lifetime solution. You may eventually need to replace the crown on top due to normal wear, but the implant itself can stay stable if you keep up with brushing, flossing, and regular visits.
How much do dental implants cost?
Implant costs vary based on how many teeth we are replacing, whether bone grafting is needed, and what type of restoration (crown, bridge, or denture) we place on top. We will give you a personalized estimate after we review your scans and design your plan, then help you check insurance and explore financing so you can decide what feels comfortable for you.
Are dental implants painful?
Most patients are surprised by how manageable the procedure feels. We use local anesthesia so you stay comfortable during placement, and many people compare the after-soreness to having a tooth removed. Over-the-counter medication is usually enough, and we check on you during the healing phase.
